Man Charged In Armored Car Robbery Attempt
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - An FBI Miami SWAT team has made an arrest of one of two men believed to have been involved in an attempted robbery of an armored car guard in Hollywood earlier this week.
Twenty-fiver year old Gerard Thomas of Ft. Lauderdale was arrested Wednesday and is currently at the Broward jail on a federal hold.
FBI Special Agent John Gillies said Thomas and another man tried to rob an armored car carrier at gunpoint at the Bank of America drive-thru/ATM, located at 1900 Tyler Street in Hollywood, Tuesday morning.
The armed robbers exchanged gunfire with one of the armored truck guards and witnesses said they heard at least five shots.
No one was injured in the robbery attempt and no money was stolen.
