Man Caught Viewing Child Porn At FAU Library
BOCA RATON (CBSMiami) – A vet's assistant wasn't looking at animals when he logged on to a local university's computers.
The Sun-Sentinel reports that Andrew Manning, 41, was arrested Thursday afternoon, charged with four counts of viewing child porn on library computers on FAU's Boca Raton campus.
Manning viewed several websites with "pornographic material, including material depicting children," according to a report by the FAU Police Department. One website showed "animated, sketched, and 3-D rendered images of male children involved in explicit sexual activity, including extreme bondage acts."
FAU Police has had Manning on its radar for more than a year.
A witness reported Manning, who has no connection to the university, to FAU Police and said the man had spent "an extended period of time" viewing porn at the library, according to the report.
After that visit, the witness and police accessed the computer Manning used, which no other visitors had used since. They discovered "numerous" porn sites in the computer's history.
During a subsequent visit, an FAU police officer confronted Manning and discovered he had visited the same websites, the report says. Manning was escorted off campus, given a trespassing warning and informed that criminal charges may be filed.
The report does not say why the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office did not arrest Manning until Thursday.
Manning was booked in the Palm Beach County Jail and has since been released after posting a $12,000 bail, Sheriff's Office records show. He declined to comment when reached at his home on Friday.
