MIAMI — A man was arrested Wednesday night for an alleged assassination attempt on an Opa-locka city commissioner candidate.

Anthony Mitchell, 50, was arrested for the attempted murder of Chris Davis, arrest documents said.

Just after 10 p.m., Opa-locka Police was called out to a battery in progress at 2270 Burlington St., where officers met with Davis, Mitchell and another man, who all had minor injuries and scratches.

According to the arrest documents, Davis said he got into a fight with the two men that escalated into gunfire. Davis also told police that he found a bullet hole in the driver's side door of his car.

Mitchell was arrested and charged, and he is expected to appear in court Friday.
