Man Accused Of Stabbing Three Family Members On Plantation Key
PLANTATION KEY (CBSMiami) – A California man is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed three of his family members with a knife during a heated argument.
Jacob Knapper, 20, stabbed his mother, aunt, and uncle in a house on Plantation Key Saturday evening, according to Monroe County Sherriff's Office police.
When a sheriff's deputy arrived at the home just before 10 p.m. to check on reports of a disturbance, he found pools of blood on the living room floor. He also found Knapper's mother and aunt with bloody wounds on their arms and Knapper's uncle who had been stabbed in the stomach.
"He's in there," yelled the uncle to the deputy, as he pointed to another room in the house.
Knapper's mother reportedly then began to yell uncontrollably at the deputy to leave "him" alone and not to hurt him.
Suddenly, Knapper ran out of the other room and headed straight toward the deputy.
Knapper allegedly yelled at the deputy and begged him to shoot him. The deputy then restrained Knapper and took him into custody.
According to the sheriff's office, Knapper's aunt said that a friend had been at the house and Knapper called her a nasty name in front of her three children who were in the home. She said the uncle then stepped in and told Knapper not to talk like that in front of kids. Knapper then snapped back at his uncle and told him that he could talk any way that he wanted. The aunt told sheriff's investigators that is when Knapper grabbed a knife and stabbed her and his uncle.
Knapper's mother, however, reportedly told a different story. She said that it was the uncle who was yelling at his daughter when Knapper stepped in and told him not to. She said that the uncle forcefully told Knapper to get out of the house. She said while she and Knapper packed up to leave, the uncle came into the room, according to the sheriff's office.
She said Knapper felt threatened and grabbed the knife out of the room to protect her. She said she saw her son swing the knife multiple times which injured the three of them, according to the sheriff's office.
Knapper's uncle was transported to Mariner's Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Knapper was booked into Monroe County jail for three counts aggravated battery and resisting arrest.
