Makeover For Moms Who Can't Afford The Bling

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com)- If you've ever wondered why the rich look so good, it's because they can afford plastic surgery. For those without the benjamins, it's not so easy, but this Mothers' Day, there's hope for those who need help but can't afford the bill.

A group of plastic surgeons, dentists, eye doctors, and other experts have joined to offer their services to free to people who meet certain need guidelines. Bluntly put, they're looking to help people who could not afford things like Lasik, cosmetic dentistry, and a nip and tuck on their own.

They call it the Ultimate Makeover, and they are looking for someone to be transformed.

The concept started after a young girl wrote a cosmetic dentist saying her mother was embarrassed about her teeth, but couldn't afford the often hefty bill for restoration procedures. The teeth were so bad, the girl said, her mom could not get a job. She promised to give up her lunch money to pay the dentist if he'd do the work.

The dentist thought it would be better for him to give up his time, and other makeover experts agreed to do the same.

That woman will be included in the ultimate makeovers, but the experts are still looking for other candidates.

To qualify, you must be seriously in need. You need to be uninsured or underinsured, such as not having dental insurance. Your income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. You must be between 21 and 65 years of age, and must live in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, or Broward county and be able to prove residency.

The organizers are also looking for compelling stories of need, as they are looking to help the folks who need it the most.
