Loria Waiting Until After Season To Evaluate Marlins Team
MIAMI (AP) — Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria says he will wait until after the season before evaluating his disappointing team.
Not long after Miami's team picture was taken Friday afternoon, Loria offered little when asked what the photo might look like in 2013.
"I thought this team was a contender this year. We have to figure out what went wrong," Loria said.
The Marlins are 59-72 and in last place in the NL East. Miami had expected more after bringing in manager Ozzie Guillen and signing free agents Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Heath Bell.
Guillen said it was smart to wait on evaluations because with a month left, it would be doing so "with your heart and not your head."
"We're all very confused and asking, 'Why did this happen?'" Guillen said.
