Locals Honor Famed Architect Zaha Hadid In Downtown Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- South Floridians payed their final respects to the famed architect Zaha Hadid who died last week in Miami.
Locals bowed their heads Wednesday morning outside of her iconic residential tower under construction in Downtown Miami - One Thousand Museum.
It all happened at 8:08 a.m. in conjunction with Hadid's London funeral being held at the same time (1:08 p.m. London time.)
During the ceremony there was also 60 seconds of silence led by a local Imam to honor Hadid and her love for Miami.
All this as a banner picturing Hadid waved in the background saying, "Her legacy lives on." Flowers and candles also adorned the outside area of the construction site.
Hadid died following a heart attack on March 31st in a Miami hospital where they were treating her for bronchitis. Known for her works around the world, Iraqi-born, British Hadid was the first woman to win the Pritzker award - the highest award in architecture.
