Local Emergency Response Team Heads To Japan To Assist
MIAMI (CBS4)-As many Americans are trying to get out of the devastated country, one group of volunteers from South Florida is making their way to Japan to help in any way they can.
The Eagle's Wings Foundation, an emergency response team out of West Palm Beach, assembled the 8-person group. One of the main focuses of the team is to help manage communications between disaster relief teams. Group members say they'll be well prepared in Japan.
"Our technology works disconnected that means no cell phone towers and no Internet and that's going to be useful because a lot of their critical infrastructure is probably going to be wiped out," a member of the group said.
