Living Large: "Elle Decor Modern Life Concept House" For Art Basel
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The Elle Decor Modern Life Concept House is the ultimate designer showcase. Elle Décor Magazine has taken a waterfront estate on Sunset Island 2 and paired top interior designers with big name design brands to create different rooms in the home.
The house will be revealed next week during Art Basel.
"There are nine designers participating and many are from here in South Florida," said local interior designer Sam Robin.
Robin created a black and white modern living room furnished with pieces by Roche Bobois and her own self-titled design firm.
"This is the horse lamp" said Sam pointing to a life-size horse lamp. "We try to put iconic pieces in because just like paintings and sculpture, furniture has been very much in the forefront in Art Basel."
Designer Sofia Joelsson created an ultra modern kitchen as the elegant side sitting area.
"I was really lucky because I got to work with one of my favorite designers from Italy. This is the first time it has come to The United States," said Joelsson.
Sofia took huge pieces of wall paper and built a large frame around them to make them look like a piece of art.
Both the refrigerator and the ovens are built-in and concealed by mirrors.
Bloggers were also brought in to choose Art Basel inspired outfits to merge fashion with the home. Blogger Anna Vasquez chose a pop of color to go with Sam Robins' room.
"For me Art Basel is all about inspiration, so when you dress it should be all about glamour, " said Vasquez, wearing a bright red dress by BCBG and shoes and black knit hat by Forever 21.
Fashion Blogger Maria Tettamanti was asked to create a look for busy Basel goers inspired by the landscaping.
"So boom! I went with a nice colorful look that's airy because it's so hot outside and it's breezy so I wanted color, " said Maria in a pastel Missoni jumpsuit..
Every room in the 10, 300 square foot home has been created for Art Basel week.. Tickets sold will benefit the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. It's a show place where style, design and art become one during the art world's biggest week of the year.
The Elle Décor Modern Concept Life House opens up for the public on December 4th. Tickets are $35
