MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tuesday's wet and wild weather hit Miami International Airport pretty hard, literally.
According to airport officials, the FAA Tower was struck by lightning at about 7:30 p.m.
Some radio frequencies and phone lines were affected, but the radar kept operating.
Officials said FAA technicians quickly restored the frequencies and landlines, and they're monitoring all systems closely.
They added that severe thunderstorms have been affecting flights this evening, and FAA air traffic controllers are working to keep the system operating safely.
