Less Storms, More Heat For The Holiday Weekend
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – South Florida will have a chance to dry out after a couple of days of relentless rain that flooded some areas of Miami-Dade County.
The low pressure area that brought the stormy, windy weather on Thursday has moved north of the Bahamas allowing slightly drier air to wrap into South Florida.
That drier air means warm sunny mornings through Sunday but enough low level moisture remains to keep a chance for spotty afternoon storms in the forecast.
By later in the weekend the low pressure system could become a tropical or sub-tropical storm and move west toward the Georgia coast dragging its moisture feed back over Florida. The next named storm will be Beryl.
The forecast for Saturday, Sunday and Memorial Day calls for mostly sunny skies with afternoon highs in the upper 80s and low 90s and evening readings in the low to mid-70s. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and storms on Saturday, increasing to 30 percent on Sunday and Monday.
