Legislature: It's Almost Over In Tallahassee
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) – After 60 days of endless meetings and decision making, the 2012 Florida legislative session is finally coming to a close.
With only hours left on the clock, the legislature still needs to make some major decisions, including budget approval and Personal Injury Protection fraud.
By the end of the day, the legislature will make a final vote on an annual budget of $70 billion that would mean cuts to health care, state universities, and would include thousands of layoffs.
The legislature must also vote on other bills that would affect health, education, and lifestyle, among others.
In spite of its closure, the Republican-controlled Legislature may be back in special session if the House and Senate cannot agree on how to deal with fraud plaguing PIP. It's one of Governor Rick Scott's top priorities.
