Lee: Cavs Keeping Mozgov On Bench "Kept Them In The Game"

Interviews-wqam

One theme that we've seen during the NBA Finals is that while Golden State has stayed true to the style of play that carried them through the season, Cleveland has changed things up trying to keep pace with the high-scoring Warriors.

The Cavs made a big move during their Game 5 loss, utilizing a smaller lineup and keeping Timofey Mozgov on the bench despite the production that he's given them throughout the series.

"It kept them in the game because you surrounded Lebron with four shooters who can space the floor to let him operate," the Washington Post's Michael Lee said on the Kup and Crowder Show. "He was able to do it in the first half but it's tough to sustain that against the Warriors"

"The way the game is played now we've basically eliminated the importance of size. Big men have been marginalized, you need that stretch four who can hit three's. Those homerun balls are what keep you in the game."

Lee also thinks that regardless of who wins the series, LeBron should be the Finals MVP.

"Yes at 37 points, 15 rebounds and 9 assists what more can you ask him to do? LeBron has clearly been the best player in these finals and I don't think anybody can blame him for losing because he's doing everything super humanly possible to win."
