LeBron Goes Sans Headband And Dominates
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals had classic moments throughout the game from Kawhi Leonard posterizing Mike Miller to Miller hitting a three-point shot with just one shoe on.
But much like Superman would lose the suit of Clark Kent to show his superpowers, Miami Heat superstar LeBron James lost his headband, and the rest is NBA Finals history.
Miami Heat superstar, and NBA MVP, LeBron James has worn headbands ever since he got into the NBA. It's one of his trademarks that helps keep the sweat out of his eyes, or as some say, to hide his receding hairline.
When the fourth quarter got rolling, LeBron channeled what could best be described as "beast mode" and took over the game. Then with about nine minutes left in the game, James dunked the ball and lost the headband and never replaced it the rest of the way.
Once the headband came off, James was 50 percent from the field for 14 points, pulled down 4 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists. By the time the game was over, James was completely gassed, and still sans headband.
LeBron finished the game with a triple-double, 32 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and helped rally the Heat first from a 13-point second half lead and then from a five-point lead with under 30 seconds to go in the game.
"I don't even remember that play much," James said. "I was just focused on the job, the task at hand, and just trying to be aggressive, just trying to figure out ways I could help the team get back into the game. And you know, I guess the headband was the least of my worries at that point."
The only question now is will James go with or without the headband in Game 7 Thursday night.
