Lauderhill Mother Accused In Bat Attack On Son
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Lauderhill mother is being held on $50,000 bond after she allegedly attacked her teenage son with a baseball bat and threatened him with a knife.
Sheronda Roselva, 50, has been charged with cruelty to a child with infliction of injury.
When officers arrived at the apartment building where Roselva lives, in the 2000 block of NW 59th Way, Roselva's 17-year old son told them he was a sleep in his room when his mother started to hit him over the head with the bat. He said she hit around 30 times, according to the incident report, before she left the room and came back with a knife and said "I have to kill you."
The teen told police he grabbed her arm, to prevent her from stabbing him, and ran out of the apartment. The teen ran to the front yard of a neighbor and hid when he saw his mother come of the front door with the bat and knife. The teen then asked a bystander, who saw Roselva armed with the bat and knife, to call the police. He did.
According to the report, police found Roselva seated outside her apartment with the bat and knife next to her on the ground. Before they could say anything, Roselva reportedly told the officers "I wanted to kill my son because I cannot take care of him and I don't want him to suffer."
The teen was taken to the Plantation General Hospital where he was treated and released.
