Lauderhill Man Accused In Half A Dozen Residential Burglaries
FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – An arrest of a Lauderhill man for burglary has closed half a dozen or so other burglary cases.
Quavon Woodcock is accused of breaking into homes and taking what doesn't belong to him. He was caught after someone saw him going into his neighbor's Northwest Fort Lauderdale home on Tuesday.
As it turns out, police say he is wanted for a whole string of break-ins.
Woodcock is accused of breaking into a Ft. Lauderdale home in October.
In fact, a detective recognized him from a surveillance video –when he went in – then walked right out the front door with a duffle bag filled with guns, cash and electronics, police say.
For the Wilson family the break-in has deeply effected them.
Surveillance video shows the burglary breaking-in through the children's bedroom window.
"We didn't want to stay in our room," said 16-year-old Yahmyia Banks.
"You just feel violated of everything," said Yahmyia's mom Yashica Sneed-Wilson, "that somebody's been in your house, touched your belongings, took what you worked hard for."
Investigators believe this case all came together because neighbors were looking out for each other. And, because of the surveillance video from the Wilson's place – police said Woodcock confessed that he's pulled off a bunch of burglaries.
"That's when the suspect admitted to not only committing that prior burglary and yesterday's burglary," explained Fort Lauderdale Police Detective Deanna Greenlaw, "but he also informed them he has committed 6 other burglaries in the county."
His confession may not restore the Wilson's piece of mind or their belongings, but they hope it will spare others from feeling like they do.
"I'm glad he caught," said Mark Wilson, the children's dad, "I'm glad he's caught so he can't do it to anybody else. I don't want anyone else's kids feeling the way my kids felt."
