Lauderdale Lane Closures Ahead Of Air Show
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Ft. Lauderdale's famed beach will be packed next weekend as the Lauderdale Air Show takes to the skies.
To prepare for the event there will be a number of road closures.
On Tuesday, April 16th at 5:00 a.m., the north and southbound lanes of State Road A1A, between Sunrise Boulevard and Northeast 14th Court will be closed to all vehicular traffic. This road closure will be in effect from Tuesday until approximately Monday around 7 p.m. No through traffic will be allowed south of Northeast 19th Street during this time. Only area residents and residential service providers will be allowed south of Northeast 19th Street to Northeast 14th Court.
From Tuesday, April 16th to Thursday, April 18th, all vehicular traffic heading north on State Road A1A toward the intersection of East Sunrise Boulevard will be diverted to westbound lanes of Sunrise Boulevard.
On Friday, April 19, at 5:00 a.m., the northbound lanes of State Road A1A will be closed from Vistamar Street to Sunrise Boulevard. The southbound lanes only of State Road A1A from Northeast 9th Street to Vistamar Street will remain open on Friday. In addition, east and westbound lanes of Sunrise Boulevard, from Breakers Avenue to State Road A1A will be closed for through vehicular traffic, open to local traffic only. These lane closures will be in effect through the late evening hours on Sunday, April 22nd.
Saturday, April 20, 2013 and Sunday, April 21, 2013
In addition to all the above closures, beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20th, State Road A1A will be completely shut down from Vistamar Street to NE 14th Court. Additionally, the East Sunrise Boulevard closure will extend to the west side of the Sunrise Drawbridge, at Northeast 26th Avenue.
On Saturday and Sunday, between 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., access to the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Boulevard and to the Sunrise Lane business district will be open for local traffic only. Access to State Road A1A from Sunrise Boulevard will remain closed.
All closures will end Monday around 7:00 p.m.
