Last Two Of 13 Sentenced In Fla. Cocaine Conspiracy
WEST PALM BEACH (CBSMiami/AP) — Two Florida men have been sentenced to prison after being busted for being a part of a large scale drug trafficking ring.
A West Palm Beach federal judge, this week, sentenced 44-year-old Osvaldo Domingo Ceballo of Hialeah to 18 years in federal prison and 43-year-old Yumar Oliva of Miami to more than 12 years. Both were convicted in March after a jury trial.
Ceballo and Oliva were just two of the 13 member cocaine ring based in South Florida. Authorities are still searching for two more fugitives.
The ring was said to have worked in Haiti, the Bahamas and throughout South Florida. Investigators used 14 separate wiretaps to intercept more than 33,000 telephone calls and text messages.
Cocaine powder and cocaine base used to make crack were seized. Investigators say hundreds of pounds of cocaine were smuggled into South Florida by the group.
