Larkin Likely A 1st Round Pick In Draft

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former University of Miami Hurricanes point guard Shane Larkin will hear his name called during the first round of Thursday's NBA Draft, the only question is by what team.

The speedy and dynamic point guard wowed scouts at individual workouts including posting the second-highest vertical jump in NBA combine history at 44-inches. If Larkin were two inches taller, he'd be a certain lottery selection, but he measured in at just 5'11", which made scouts hesitate.

Last season at Miami, Larkin played in 36 games and averaged 36.4 minutes per game. He scored 14.5 points, pulled down 3.8 rebounds, and handed out 4.6 assists per game during Miami's prolific run to the Sweet 16.

Draft Express.com has Larkin going to the Utah Jazz with the 14th pick of the first round Thursday night. However, he could also be bound for the Celtics who are also about to go into full rebuilding mode. CBSSports.com's final Mock Draft also sent Larkin to the Jazz at pick number 14.

The Jazz present a unique opportunity for Larkin if he ends up going to Utah. The team is building around veteran center Al Jefferson, forwards Al Jefferson and Derrick Favors, center Enes Kanter and guard Alec Burks.

Without a true starting point guard, Larkin could slide into a starting spot in a hurry for the Jazz if he is the Jazz's pick.
