2 dead, 2 hospitalized after shooting at Jaycee Hall in Hollywood
FORT LAUDERDALE — Police are investigating a quadruple shooting at a Hollywood baby shower that left two people dead and two others hospitalized early Sunday morning.
Police said the shooting happened around 1 a.m. Sunday morning at the parking lot of Jaycee Hall near Stan Goldman Park, right on Hollywood Boulevard and Interstate 95 South.
Upon arrival, officers found four gunshot victims. One was pronounced dead at the scene. The three remaining victims were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where the second victim died. Investigators haven't released the names yet.
John Challenor initially thought the gunshots were just door knocks.
"I'm saying that's odd. Knock knock again" Challenor said. "I open the door and I hear it again — bang, bang, bang — come to find out it was a shooting."
He was down the street from the event venue when the shooting happened.
Police said an altercation happened just before the shooting. Deborah Gronvold, Jaycee Hall's manager, said it all happened during a baby shower.
"They just had it set up like a baby shower, so I don't know understand why somebody would have gotten involved in a shooting," she said.
In the video, the area is cordoned off with crime tape.
Police have several people of interest but no arrests have been made.
"What we can tell you is that we do believe this is an isolated incident," said Hollywood Police Information Officer Deanna Bettineschi.
Hollywood police are asking anyone with information regarding this shooting to contact the department at (954) 764-4357. Or call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954)493-8477.
