FORT LAUDERDALE — A domestic disturbance at a South Florida home led deputies to fatally shoot a possibly armed man at a Fort Lauderdale Tri-Rail station on Saturday afternoon, the Broward County Sheriff's Office said.

Just before 1:50 p.m., BSO was called out to a reported domestic disturbance with a firearm at a Broward County home, prompting deputies to respond.

The man involved fled the scene and following a pursuit with the suspect, multiple deputies fired their weapons in the area of Southwest 21st Terrace near the Fort Lauderdale Tri-Rail Station and killed him, BSO said. BSO has not released the man's identity as of Saturday evening.

BSO Spokesperson Carey Codd told reporters later Saturday evening that a firearm was recovered at the scene but could not say whether the gun was present or visible to deputies at the time of the shooting.

Though the number of deputies involved in the shooting was not specified, Codd told reporters that they were placed on administrative assignment and that BSO's Internal Affairs Unit is investigating them. Codd also said that another investigation is underway for the domestic disturbance that sparked the shooting.

A Tri-Rail spokesperson told CBS News Miami that service has not been impacted and passengers are able to enter the station from the Interstate 95 overpass since police are blocking the entrance on Southwest 1st Terrace.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
