Police investigate double homicide at Hallandale Beach condo
HALLANDALE BEACH - An investigation was launched early Wednesday morning into a double homicide at a Hallandale Beach condominium.
Hallandale Beach police said around 12:30 a.m. they received a ShotSpotter alert about gunfire in the 1800 block of S Ocean Drive. When officers arrived at a high-rise at 1830 S Ocean Drive, they discovered the bodies of a man and woman, both had been shot. The building was one of three in the complex.
Chopper4 over the scene spotted what appeared to be a body on the balcony of a unit on one of the upper-level floors. Investigators could be seen going in and out of the unit.
"Trying to get home and I can't get in. It looks like something crazy went down over here and I'm not even sure what it is exactly, but yeah, it's just insane. I've never seen something like this and I've been here since I was a little kid," said "Eric" who lives in the building. "It makes me feel unsafe. I don't know if I want to walk in, even if I am allowed."
Police said the "incident has been determined to be isolated" and "there is no impact to traffic or public safety in the surrounding area."
