Langford Visiting Bengals
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins are in the midst of a transition from a 3-4 defensive scheme to a 4-3 defense, and that means some players may not fit in the new defense.
One of the players who was dominant in the 3-4 was defensive end Kendall Langford. The former 66th overall pick stands 6'5" and weighs in the neighborhood of 295-300 pounds. In a 4-3 defense, he would likely shift inside to defensive tackle.
Langford is now drawing major interest as a free agent. The Dolphins would like to keep the athletic big man, but may not have the salary cap space to pull it off.
According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Langford has scheduled a meeting with the Bengals, who have tons of cap space. Langford is also reportedly drawing interest from the Patriots and Falcons, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Langford played under Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan in Miami and playing for Bill Belichick as a defender goes without saying. The Bengals have the most cap space to offer the biggest contract if it's all about money for Langford.
Losing Langford would be a big loss to the Fins' defensive line. Currently, the Fins would line up Cameron Wake at defensive end, Randy Starks and Jared Odrick at defensive tackle, and someone else at the other defensive end spot.
Starks and Odrick would be backed up by Ryan Baker, Tony McDaniel, and Phillip Merling.
