'Ladies and Gentlemen…The Beatles!' Exhibit On Display At HistoryMiami
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - HistoryMiami's newest exhibit will give Beatles' fans a chance to enjoy memorable moments and cool swag from the Fab Four.
The exhibition is titled "Ladies and Gentlemen…The Beatles!" which derives from the opening line Ed Sullivan used to introduce the group back in 1964 during his show on Miami Beach.
"This case highlights some memories from the Miami experience," said Stuart Chase, HistoryMiami's Museum Director.

"It's a scrapbook of the time. Look at this newspaper article that reads 'Thousands of Girls Swoon as Beatles Rock Miami Beach.' This is a tremendous opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles coming to America, that British invasion and the subsequent Beatlemania that took America by storm," he told CBS4's Lisa Petrillo.
More than 400 pieces of memorabilia are on display at the museum.
People can view items such as records, rare photographs, the actual drum set from the Miami Beach Ed Sullivan show and even tiny trinkets like a song set list George Harrison clipped onto his guitar. There's even the original jacket worn on the "Abbey Road" album cover. But the most bizarre has to be an actual lock of John Lennon's hair.
"A fan got John Lennon to cut his hair and he gave him handwritten note attached with the ticket from the performance. That's pretty special," said Chase.
There's a section within the exhibit called The Influencers, which is about American artists who influenced the band. It includes memorabilia from Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley's personal guitar.
Beatles fans can stroll through the exhibit savoring every piece. It's a trip back in time paying homage to a band that will forever be at the center of musical history.
"What a great opportunity to see such a terrific original project and learn more about Beatlemania, when they came to America and what they did when they found their way to Miami Beach. There's a terrific tie in here in Miami," said Chase.
The HistoryMiami exhibit starts on October 10th and lasts through January 18th, 2015.
