Kraft Velveeta Product Recalled
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- For those who like Velveeta products, there is a recall of their "Cheesy Skillets Singles-Ultimate Cheeseburger Mac" product because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen.
Truitt Brothers Inc., an East Bernstadt, Ky. establishment, is recalling approximately 1.77 million pounds of "Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets Singles-Ultimate Cheeseburger Mac."
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall Saturday.
The products are formulated with hydrolyzed soy protein and dried soy sauce, which are known allergens, and are not declared on some labels.
The products were produced between May 6, 2013 and Jan. 16, 2014 and were shipped to Kraft Foods distribution centers and retail locations nationwide.
The dates of the products affected are ones with a Used By/Sell By date code of "02 March 2014 – 23 October 2014."
The problem was discovered during a recent routine quality check conducted by the company, which then contacted FSIS.
The company believes the problem occurred when a label supplier inadvertently mixed labels with incorrect ingredient lines with labels containing correct ingredient information.
FSIS and the company have not received reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
No other Velveeta or Kraft products have been impacted by this recall.
