T.S. Kirk Continues Weakening, Speeds Toward N. Atlantic
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Kirk weakened to a tropical storm Saturday morning, as it accelerates to the northeast over the northern Atlantic Ocean.
At 5 p.m. Saturday, the center of Kirk was about 665 miles southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland, or about 935 miles west-northwest of the Azores.
Kirk's maximum sustained winds were 65 mph, with higher gusts.
The storm was speeding northeast at 29 mph.
The storm poses no threat to land.
Sunday's forecast track has Kirk moving even faster over the open waters of the north Atlantic, with the storm being absorbed by a front on Monday.
