Kim Rothstein Asks For Sentencing Delay
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) - Kim Rothstein, the wife of convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein, is asking a judge to delay her sentencing so she can testify against others related to the case.
Kim Rothstein faces a maximum five-year prison sentence for hiding and trying to sell about $1 million in jewelry.
She hopes to get a reduced sentence in exchange for testimony against two men accused of helping her sell jewelry federal agents were trying to seize as part of Scott's scheme.
Kim Rothstein wants her current sentencing date of Oct. 7 postponed until after the conclusion of the Oct. 21 trial in which she is to testify.
Scott Rothstein is serving 50 years for operating a $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme involving fake legal settlements.
