Key West To Improve Historic Seaport
KEY WEST (CBS4) -- Key West, home to Fantasy Fest and prime destination for tourists looking for a slice of paradise is about to get a face lift.
The city's historic seaport will be spending about $1 million over the next three years in order to enhance the port with upgrades such as improved lighting and signage.
Dramatic changes are not on the horizon, though, according to Architect Michael Ingram who says the idea is not to reinvent the area, but to enhance what already is there.
Formal approval of the project is expected Dec. 15 and will be funded from money that would come from a fund that includes rent and dockage payments.
Improvements likely will begin early next year.
