Kentucky Picked To Win The SEC Men's B'Ball Title
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (CBSMiami) – The University of Kentucky Wildcats won the NCAA championship last season and they are the preseason favorite to win the Southeastern Conference championship again this season.
The Wildcats took 17 of 24 first-place votes in preseason balloting of media members. Kentucky lost six players to the NBA Draft, including national player of the year and number one overall pick Anthony Davis.
Kentucky didn't lose an SEC game last year and head coach John Calipari brought in another highly-touted recruiting class in the offseason, including number one overall recruit Nerlens Noel.
Florida came in second place in the preseason poll followed by Missouri and Tennessee.
Missouri point guard Phil Pressey was selected as the preseason player of the year. He took the honor over Florida's Kenny Boynton, Arkansas' BJ Young, Tennessee's Jarnell Stokes, and Noel. All five of those players are the first-team preseason All-SEC picks as well.
