Ken Dorsey Retires From Pro Football
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) - Former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Ken Dorsey has called it a career. Dorsey announced Tuesday that he is retiring from professional football.
Dorsey threw for 9,565 yards and 86 touchdowns while leading the Canes team to the 2001 BCS National Championship.
He had limited arm strength and mobility, but he was a steady hand on a team sporting more NFL superstars than almost any college team in history.
It was also the last hurrah of the once storied Miami Hurricanes football team, which after the 2002 season fell into a period of decline that hasn't stopped in the last decade.
Dorsey played six years in the NFL and spent last season with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. He started 13 games over his career and spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns.
Dorsey has spent time as a high school football assistant coach, and plans to pursue coaching full-time starting this fall.
