Katia Makes Turn Northward, Produces Dangerous Surf
MIAMI (CBS4) – Hurricane Katia is producing dangerous surf conditions along Bermuda and much of the eastern seaboard of the U.S.
At 11 p.m., Katia was located about 325 miles west-southwest of Bermuda. Maximum sustained winds were holding at 80 mph as it moved northwest near 13 mph.
Katia is expected to take a turn toward the north and then the north-northeast with an increase in forward speed late Thursday and early Friday. On this forecast track, the center of Katia is expected to move between the east of the U.S. and Bermuda into Thursday.
A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Bermuda. Katia could produce up to two inches of rain over Bermuda.
The National Hurricane Center reports while Katia poses no threat to land in the next 48 hours those on the eastern seaboard and Bermuda should keep an eye on it.
