Hurricane Hunter Shows Karl Hasn't Strengthened, Tropical Storm Lisa Chugging Along

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A NOAA hurricane hunter aircraft indicates that Tropical Storm Karl has not strengthened.
At 11 p.m. the center of Karl was about 385 miles east-northeast of the Leeward Islands.
Karl's maximum sustained winds were 40 mph as it moved to the west near 17 mph. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles to the north of the center.
A west-northwest to northwest motion at a slightly faster forward speed is expected through Thursday.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Lisa is just chugging along to the northwest over the eastern tropical Atlantic.
At 11 p.m. the center of the storm was about 515 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands.
The storm had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph as it moved to the northwest at 10 mph.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next 24 hours, with steady weakening expected to begin by Thursday.
There are no watches or warnings in effect for either storm.
