Miami Succumbs To Kansas State, 52-13
MANHATTAN, Kan. (CBSMiami) — On Saturday, Kansas State hurled the Hurricanes up and down the field.
The Wildcats bullied the Hurricanes up and down the field at Bill Snyder Stadium, as purple power prevailed 52-13 on a gorgeous football day in the Midwest.
CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald reports No. 21 Kansas State earned its 20th consecutive victory at home against an unranked, nonconference opponent.
For Miami, it was back to reality – a harsh reality.
The Canes (0-2) have lost 11 of their past 12 road games against Top 25 opponents.
Unlike in their season opening victory the previous weekend, the Hurricanes would not come close to making a comeback after falling behind 14-0.
With 10:56 left in the game, Kansas led 45-6.
After one quarter it was 14-3, Wildcats.
At halftime, KSU led 24-6.
Collin Klein, who dominated the Hurricanes in 2011, did it again Saturday – with his legs and arm.
With 9:10 left, Klein had completed 9 of 11 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown, with one interception. He had rushed 22 times for 71 yards and three touchdowns.
With 10:51 left, Miami had given up five rushing touchdowns for the first time since Nov. 28, 1998, a 66-13 loss at Syracuse.
UM's first six points came on two field goals by Jake Wieclaw – a 32-yarder with 11 seconds left in the first quarter and a 27-yarder to end the first half.
