Jury Selection Enters 5th Day In Casey Anthony Trial
CLEARWATER (CBS4) – Jury selection has entered its fifth day in the first-degree murder trial of a mother charged with killing her 2-year-old daughter.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys for Casey Anthony questioned a potential juror about what she knew about the case which has received national attention. The prospective juror, a nurse, was asked to come back for more questioning on Saturday. She joined four other potential jurors who have been asked to return for further inquiry by attorneys.
The 25-year-old Anthony is charged with killing daughter Caylee in 2008. She has pleaded not guilty and says a babysitter kidnapped Caylee.
Thursday, it was learned jurors will likely view photos of the child's remains and be asked to sniff evidence. Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick asked one potential juror if he had any qualms about viewing images of the child's remains or smelling evidence. Prosecutors hope to use a novel forensics test of air from Anthony's car during the trial. Anthony's mother had described the car as smelling like death in a 911 call to dispatchers.
Jury selection is being held outside Orlando because of intense pretrial publicity.
