Jury Convicts Anton Josey Of Kidnapping, Murder

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A man accused of kidnapping and killing his ex-girlfriend because she left him after ten years for a female co-worker has been found guilty.

After listening to two days of testimony, a Broward jury has convicted 39-year old Anton Josey in the death Dominique Duval.

During the trial, a pair of Duval's co-workers testified that on August 26th, 2009 they saw Josey drag Duval into his car in the parking lot of her work, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Twenty minutes later, two Hollywood officers pulled Josey's car over at a gas station on Pembroke Park Road. It was there that Duval, bleeding profusely from a fatal gunshot wound to her neck, jumped out of the car and tried to run for help.

When asked why he shot her, police said Josey told the officers it was because Duval had given him HIV. The Broward Medical Examiner said no sign of the virus which causes AIDS was found during Duval's autopsy.

Josey's attorney argued that the shooting was an unfortunate accident.

Josey faces up to life in prison when he's sentenced.
