Job Seekers Wanted At S. Florida Job Fairs

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – More than a dozen Fortune 500 companies are looking to hire new employees on the second day of the Vanguard Management Group's job fair.

The first job fair was held Tuesday in Miami and Wednesday's is being held in Cypress Creek at the Airport Sheraton Suites-Cypress Creek at 555 NW 62nd Street.

The companies are looking to hire recent college graduates for business to business sales positions.

Hire managers will be taking applications and meeting with prospective employees until 2 p.m.Wednesday.

In preparation for its grand opening, Casino Miami Jai-Alai is also on day two of its job fair in an effort to fill 350 gaming, service and management positions. Service positions include cocktail servers, bartenders, valets, security personnel and janitorial staff. Gaming positions include poker dealers, hosts, player's club representatives, cashiers, customer service attendants and slot machine technicians. Management positions in the fields of Marketing, Accounting, and Human Resources.

Hiring managers will be meeting with prospective employees from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Casino Miami Jai-Alai, located at 3500 NW 37th Avenue.

Thursday, South Florida veterans and military service members who are in need of a job can get help at the Hiring Our Heroes/RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expo.

More than 30 organizations will be on site with national, regional and local opportunities.

The Hiring Our Heroes/RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expo will be part of a nationwide initiative to increase the hiring of veterans by producing special career fair hiring events.

The local expo will take place Thursday, November 10th at Sun Life Stadium from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The event, held by RecruitMilitary.com in cooperation with the American Legion, will help corporate America respond to a challenge issued on Aug. 5 by President Barrack Obama. Speaking at the Washington Navy Yard, the president challenged businesses to hire or train 100,000 unemployed veterans or their spouses by the end of 2013.
