MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has a grim assessment of presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump if he is elected.
"People are going to be deeply frustrated and the divides will grow in our country," said the former presidential hopeful during an interview on MSNBC Monday night.
Bush looked ahead to the general election and said Trump's candidacy also means "conservatism is temporarily dead."
"If you look at it, we have two candidates," Bush said. "Donald Trump is barely a Republican. He's certainly not a conservative."
Despite that, he says he admires Trump's way with the media and how he says Trump created an environment then manipulated it.
The interview came months after Bush dropped out of the race for the White House - something he's disappointed about.
"The country is desperately looking for leadership and I think it requires someone who is not always trying to win but to solve problems...the way it turned out, it didn't work out for me," said Bush.
Despite that, Bush said he takes comfort in the fact he gave it his all.
"Giving people a sense that I could've done the job wasn't enough, and it may not have ever been enough, given the circumstances," said Bush.
