Jazz In The Gardens To Feature Top Musicians At Sun Life
MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) – It will not be the roar of a crowd you will hear at Sun Life Stadium this weekend. Instead, it will be the soothing sounds of jazz and all types of music at the ninth annual Jazz in the Gardens.
Organizers said the event is one of the most anticipated and acclaimed music festivals in the country.
Guitarist Jay Jones will perform for the first time at Jazz in the Gardens, Saturday.
"It's actually a dream come true for me to perform in front of the home team, my family, it's finally coming to life . I'm so happy about it," said Jones.
Jay was chosen out of thousands of local applicants wanting to showcase their talents.
"I like to look at the local bands as preference so we can showcase local musicians here in South Florida," said Scott Gartner from AEG Live.
More than 60 thousand fans attended the 2013 Jazz in the Gardens and it's believed just as many will attend the 2014 event.
Not only will fans be able to listen to some jazz and other types of music, they will also be able to try food from around the world.
Tickets are still available for Jazz in the Gardens and fans buying them up this morning can't wait for it all to begin.
"I love it. You get to meet people from all over and everything is so nice," said fan Venus Toombs, who has attended every year.
Artists scheduled to attend include LL Cool J, Jamie Foxx, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Trey Songz, Kelly Rowland, Mint Condition, Anthony Hamilton, Stanley Clarke, Rachelle Farrell and Boney James.
"My husband and I are military. We moved here and our neighbors invited us and their whole family goes and we have the best time," said Sharice Livingston-Watford, who attended in 2013.
Jazz in the Gardens opens the night of Friday, March 14th at Calder Casino and continues March 15th and 16th at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens. Gates open at 3 p.m.
D.L. Hughley will be this year's host.
