Jason Statham Reveals His Softer Side & His New Movie
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- When it comes to Hollywood's most sought after action stars, Jason Statham leads the pack. In his new movie "Homefront" he is willing to go to any length to save his daughter's life but when CBS4's Lisa Petrillo sat down with Statham, he revealed to her, his softer side.
The year's biggest holiday box office weekend opens up with a 'bang' when action superstar Jason Statham, As widowed, ex-DEA Agent Phil broker is pushed to the brink.
"Basically the character I play Broker has lost his wife and what's left is my lovely daughter so we sort of try to escape the city and go to something a little bit more picturesque, the countryside, " said Statham.
It quickly unfolds that Phil Broker has something to hide. When the home front he thought was safe gets infiltrated the Jason Statham we all know is in full speed ahead but then suddenly there's a softer side.
"It's easy for me, to go around jump in a car, hit someone around the head, I mean people expect that because there is a certain genre that people want certain things from," said Statham.
The screenplay was written by Oscar award-winning filmmaker Sylvester Stallone who knew the book adaptation would be an opportunity for Statham to stretch his acting muscles.
"He knows my commitment and he knows what I haven't done and he thought it'd be something great for me. He'd written it for himself to play as the last installment of Rambo obviously it needed to be adapted and changed for me, for me to fit into that," said Statham,
A fit that works for Statham whose star is most definitely on the rise. "Homefront" is rated "R."
