James Still Fighting For His MVP Award
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – While Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant has the inside track for the NBA MVP award, last year's winner, Miami Heat forward LeBron James isn't giving up his crown without a fight.
In his first game since the All-Star Break, James put up 42 points, nine rebounds, and six assists against the Dallas Mavericks in a 117-106 victory. James was 4-8 from behind the three-point line, 6-8 from the free throw line and finished with a shooting night of 16-23 (70 percent) in 38 minutes of play.
When James re-entered the game in the fourth quarter, his play sparked a 16-1 run that helped the Heat pull away from the Mavericks for good.
And in the best connection in South Florida Sports since Marino to Clayton and Duper, Dwyane Wade once again showed off his arm and James took flight in Dallas to throw down a dunk early in the game that helped set the tone for the rest of the contest.
