Jaguars Hire Mike Mularkey As Head Coach
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (CBSMiami) – The Jacksonville Jaguars wanted an offensive mind as a head coach to help develop quarterback Blaine Gabbert; so they went just up the road to pluck an offensive mind from the Atlanta Falcons.
The Jaguars have hired former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey as the team's new head coach.
Mularkey served as head coach of the Buffalo Bills and went 14-18 in two seasons.
Mularkey was an offensive coordinator with the Steelers from 2001-2003; was an offensive coordinator in Miami in 2006; and has been with the Falcons as an offensive coordinator since 2008.
While in Atlanta, he's played an integral role in the development of franchise quarterback Matt Ryan.
The Jaguars are hoping he can pull off a miracle and develop the worst starting quarterback in the league in 2011, Gabbert, to a serviceable starting quarterback.
