Jags' Set To Welcome Back Blackmon & Cyprien
JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami) – Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert once again struggled in a starting role against the Miami Dolphins last Friday night. But, Gabbert was also without his top two receivers against a very stingy Fins defense.
That will change this week as the Jags' top receiver, Justin Blackmon, was expected on the field for training camp after receiving medical clearance. Blackmon had been on the physically unable to perform list (PUP) for a groin injury suffered this summer.
Without Blackmon and Cecil Shorts to throw to, Gabbert struggled to get any consistency out of the Jaguars offense. Gabbert finished his game going 5-10 for 19 yards and one interception.
It's not just the Jags offense that will get a shot of talent on Monday. The Jags defense is expected to have safety Jonathan Cyprien back on the field as well Monday.
Cyprien has been penciled in as a starter since he was drafted this year. Cyprien played his college football at Florida International University for then-coach Mario Cirstobal.
