It's Almost Time To Get Rid Of That Christmas Tree

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - It may be Christmas Day, but some planners are already looking ahead at how to properly dispose of the tree, once the ornaments and lights have been taken down, of course.
Trash and Recycling Centers (open seven days a week, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)

- Palm Springs North - 7870 NW 178 St.
- Golden Glades - 140 NW 160 St.
- West Little River - 1830 NW 79 St.
- Snapper Creek - 2200 SW 117 Ave.
- Sunset Kendall - 8000 SW 107 Ave.
- Richmond Heights - 14050 Boggs Dr.

Christmas trees will not be accepted at the Chapman Field Trash and Recycling Center.
Christmas tree mulch will be available at the following six locations beginning in early February 2015, for residents to pick up using their own bags or containers, on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

If the idea of hauling the tree to the recycling center seems to be too much of a hassle, residents may cut the tree into smaller pieces and place it inside their green waste cart for collection on any of their regularly scheduled waste collection days. The tree must fit entirely inside the waste cart. Trees placed next to the waste cart cannot be collected by the automated waste collection truck.
Fort Lauderdale residents can also dispose of trees inside the green yard waste cart, or leave trees out for bulk trash pick-up.
In Broward, trees can be brought in for recycling at the locations below. Hours vary; call the park of your choice for details.
