Isaac Causing Some Cancellations At Area Airports
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – As the weather begins to deteriorate in the Caribbean, flights to and from Haiti and the Dominican Republic have been cancelled or delayed at Miami International Airport and Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Tourists arriving in South Florida are also expressing concern that their vacations that they've planned and looked forward to could end up all wet from Tropical Storm Isaac's rain.
Enzo Pogdaesky,who arrived in Miami on Friday from Argentina, said he just heard about Isaac on the flight.
"When I was in the airplane somebody told me 'Yes, you're going to have rain because of a hurricane'," said Pogdaesky.
Ironically, he was in Miami 20 years ago when Hurricane Andrew hit. He said he evacuated to Orlando to escape Andrew's wrath.
Pogdaesky said this is his first time back in South Florida during hurricane season. He said with the tougher building codes instituted after Andrew, he thinks the city is better prepared to handle any storm so he's not concerned.
People with travel plans to Haiti or the Dominican Republic over the next few days are urged to call ahead to see if their flight has been delayed or canceled.
