Investigation Underway Into Fort Lauderdale Officer Involved Shooting

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – An officer is in the hospital, one person is in custody and two people remain at large after an officer-involved shooting in Fort Lauderdale.
Business is back to normal at the McDonald's restaurant located at 2300 W. Sunrise Blvd.
But earlier Monday afternoon it was the focus of a chaotic scene where a Fort Lauderdale police officer was hurt and multiple shots were fired at a suspect.
Police said they were trying to pull over a stolen car at the McDonald's.
When the officers approached the car in the drive-thru area, CBS4's Carey Codd was told that they saw a gun in the vehicle and drew their weapons.
At that point, investigators said there were three people in the car – two of them decided to make a run for it.
What happened next left an officer injured and began the hunt for the car and its driver.
"Two of the subjects fled the scene on foot. The driver remained in the vehicle and actually jumped a curb back on to W. Sunrise Blvd.," explained Fort Lauderdale police Det. Keven Dupree. "In the process, he struck one of our officers, who was transported to Broward Health Medical Center with minor injuries
Fort Lauderdale police put out a countywide alert for that vehicle – a Ford Fusion.
The car has since been recovered, but no one was inside.
It remains unclear if any of the suspects were injured in the officer-involved shooting.
Investigators say they have recovered a firearm at the scene.
They are still searching for the two other people.
McDonald's fast food restaurant has released a statement on the officer-involved shooting investigation saying,
"Our first priority is always the safety of our customers and employees. As this is an active police investigation, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further except to say that we are cooperating fully with law enforcement at this time."
