Investigation Underway After String Of Weekend Shootings

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A string of shootings in South Florida has left one person dead and nearly 10 injured just before the holidays.
Both have investigators searching for the culprits.
Shots rang out in North Miami Beach on Sunday evening, injuring four people at NE 6th Avenue and 167th Street.
All had bullet wounds in their lower extremities, police said.
Two people were treated at the scene while two others were taken to Aventura Hospital in stable condition.
In Southwest Miami-Dade, one person is dead and four others were injured after a gunman opened fire in the parking lot of a convenience store on Saturday night.
The mother of the man who died is making funeral arrangements for him - days before Christmas.
"It's just sad right now. I'm trying to stay strong for my family but it's hard," said Alicia Shannon.
Her son Raheem Shannon - who was expecting his first child - was shot and killed about a block from his home in front of David's Grocery off SW 216th Street and 120th Avenue.
Miami-Dade Police said someone in a newer model silver vehicle - possibly a Chrysler - with dark, tinted windows and a missing passenger-side mirror, drove by and began shooting, hitting Shannon and injuring four others ranging in age from 17 to 49 years old. All of them were rushed to the hospital.
For Shannon's family, it's a nightmare all over again. This is second time this year his mother has to bury one of her children. She says her 24-year-old daughter Ebeny Nesmith was shot near the same store less than six months ago.
There's been no arrest in her case and mom is hoping this time around- tips from the public will help lead police to whoever's responsible for her son's murder.
"I want justice served. You need to come forward and do time for the crime you did. You took an innocent person's life," said Alicia Shannon.
As the victims of both shootings recover, investigators are not only trying to find out who did it but why.
