FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – The investigation into a shooting went well into the night as Florida Highway Patrol and Fort Lauderdale police detectives tried to sort out what happened.
It all happened late Tuesday afternoon at NW 21st Street in Fort Lauderdale.
"I heard the police swerving up the street," said witness Kenneth Peters.
Shots were fired, but no one died.
"I heard two shots, that's all I heard," Peters said. "I heard two shots. I do not know what happened I could not see."
Florida Highway Patrol officers detained several individuals who apparently were in a vehicle stopped by troopers.
They fled and came into a neighborhood near Mills Pond Park with the FHP hot on the trail.
"At one point, there was an altercation at the end of the street. Shots were fired, no one was injured," said FHP Sgt. Mark Wysocky. "We have four persons detained at this time for questioning and are interviewing witnesses."
No one from the neighborhood seemed to know the subjects involved in the chase or who lived in the home they ducked into.
"So, you have no idea who these guys are at all?" CBS4's Hank Tester asked a neighbor.
"I have no idea," Jontil Charles said.
