Ingrid's Rain Bands Nearing Mexican Coast
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Rain bands from Ingrid, the second hurricane of the 2013 season, are inching closer to the coast of Mexico.
At 5 p.m., the center of the storm was 110 miles east of Tampico, Mexico.
Maximum sustained winds were at 75 mph as the storm moved to the west-northwest at 6 mph. Hurricane force winds extend 25 miles from the center.
A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Cabo Rojo to La Pesca.
A Hurricane Watch is in effect for north of La Pesca to Bahia Algodones and a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for north of La Pesca to Rio San Fernando as well as south of Cabo Rojo to Tuxpan.
Ingrid is expected to take a turn to the west and its center should be very near the coast of Mexico within the Hurricane Warning area by Monday morning.
Ingrid is expected to produce up to 15 inches of rain over a large part of eastern Mexico, some areas could see up 25 inches of rain. These rains could produce life threatening flash floods and mud slides.
