Income Tax Season Draws Near
MIAMI (CBS4) - The New Year brings with it the rush to get all of your paperwork ready for the annual rite of passage that is federal income tax season.
This year's income tax filing deadline was move to Monday, April 18th due to a local holiday in Washington, DC. So that will give you a little bit of extra time to get your filing completed and in the mail.
When it comes time to get your taxes together, make sure you get all the paperwork from your 2009 taxes and then compare it to this year's tax forms and make sure you have what you need.
Double-check your tax status to see if you have enough deductions to itemize your return or just take the standard deductions.
By organizing your current and past tax paperwork, you can figure out who you have to contact if you're still missing some tax records and get them as soon as possible.
Once you have everything together; then you can decide exactly how to file your tax return. You can try the do-it-yourself tax programs, or if you have something a little more complex, you can always hire a tax professional.
