I-75 Reopens After Semi Truck Collision & Fatality
DAVIE (CBS4) – Interstate 75, between Griffin Rd. and Sheridan St. in Broward County, reopened late Friday morning following an accident between two semi trucks that led to one of the driver's being struck and killed after he survived the first crash.
About 6 a.m., two tractor trailers collided in the southbound lanes of I-75 south of Griffin Road in Davie. One of the trucks was parked in the median when the other truck jack-knifed and hit the parked truck from behind, according to Sgt. Wysocky of FHP.
After the first crash, the driver of the jack-knifed truck, 36-year-old Lucas Joseph Folino got out of his vehicle for an undetermined reason, Sgt. Wysocky said.
Folino then tried to cross the northbound lanes of I-75 and was hit and killed by a Nissan Altima driving northbound.
"The driver of the tractor trailer that jack knifed apparently exited the vehicle for an undetermined reason at this time, attempted to cross the north bound lanes of I-75 and was struck and killed by a north bound vehicle," Wysocky said.

Wysocky said the driver of the Altima, Heriberto Agredo, apparently didn't see the truck driver.
"Obviously it was dark out here," he said. "There are no street lights out here so it was probably dark and may have been looking to the other side to see what happened over there also."
Rush hour traffic was forced to come to a complete stop. The gridlock in both directions stretched for miles trapping hundreds of drivers.
"It's a nightmare every which way," commuter Wendy Donker said.
And there was no way for those trying to get their kids to school or trying to get to work.
Nour QaAdhda was also stuck in traffic.
"I'm trying to head to Plantation and there is, like, no way around it right now," she said.
Tamika Dominici told CBS4's Gwen Belton, "I am late for work."
The lanes were eventually reopened late Friday morning.
